Réflexion sur la ligne courbe
Dynamique de la courbe ou l’effet d’une vision continue.

On voit souvent, dans la sculpture, l’arrêt ou la segmentation d’une ligne courbe, ou encore l’effet d’un sentiment donné de manière courbe plus ou moins accentué et inachevé dans sa course

Or il est très rare d’avoir une vision de continu, ou en continu, d’une ligne courbe, elle-même capable de nous suggérer une trajectoire infinie dans l’espace ou le plan. Cela relève probablement d’un point de départ qui tente, par la tension extrême et silencieuse qui longe en continu illusoire, sa course et jusqu’à l’indéfini qui fait écho à notre imaginaire, là où la courbe se veut perpétuelle et à notre œil en continu.

On peut le remarquer dans des œuvres majeures de l’art figuratif à travers les siècles, ce qui nous signifiait souvent la force de l’attitude ou le galbe.

Dans l’art non figuratif, ou abstrait, cela est régi par une tension invisible, mais réelle, une accentuation en douceur mais présente dont seul le sculpteur en a le secret. Voilà quelque chose de significatif et évident dans la sculpture de Damien Pasquier-Desvignes.

Thoughts on the curved line
The dynamic of the curve or the effect of continuous vision

One often sees in sculpture ; the break or segmentation of a curved line, or the effect of what seems to be a curve that is increasing and unfinished along a given course.
But it is very rare to have a continued or continuous vision of a curved line, one that is able to suggest to us an infinite trajectory in two or three dimensions. This probably arises at a starting point from which the curve, by means of its extreme, silent tension, extends its illusory path to an as yet undefined point, thus echoing our imagination so that the curve appears unbroken and, to our eye, continous.
This can be seen in major works of figurative art down through the centuries ; that demonstrate the strength of the position or the curve.
In non-figurative or abstract art, this is governed by an invisible but real tension ; by the presence of a gentle intensification whose secret is known only to the sculpteur. This is what is so important and obvious in the sculpture of Damien Pasquier-Desvignes.
